During school times, have you heard this saying?? "Don't sing or rain will fall" Do you know why people say that?? Actually this phrase is commonly use by Malays in Singapore, then it's being translated in English so that other races can understand what we say and catch the joke :) Okay, the reason for this phrase is that; during olden times Malay people noticed that when frog croaks rain will fall but scientifically frog croaks to attract the females and to also to declare territory and to tell other frogs to stay away. Okay, back to the subject, another reason why Malays in olden times keep telling us that when frog croaks, it is calling for rain is because; there's a song related to it. The "Bangau Oh Bangau" is a song that been sung from generations to generations, in the song, there's a part says that the frog is calling the rain!! So that's why Malays thought frogs to call the rain!! Okay, but the purpose of Malays says that if someone sing, rain will fall because they're trying to say that your voice sounds like a frog which is not nice and sounds bad!! I hoped you enjoyed my first blog, as always, comments are welcome and encouraged, cheers!!
